Math Workstations: Place Value

Practice Makes Perfect

Representing Numbers Four Ways

This station allows both the teacher and the learner to differentiate the lesson. Students shared a bucket filled with place value cards. The cards were printed on colored paper to allow for differentiation. Students were informed of which color represented which level of difficulty. Teacher could then instruct specific groups or students to focus on certain cards. Each card was also labeled on the back with a letter(s). This way if the teacher wanted to check whether or not a student was working at their level, or working correctly, it is easy to do!

Addition Challenge

This station utilizes the same base ten cards as Representing Numbers in Four Ways. Again it allows both the teacher and the learner to differentiate the math station. Students can endless work on adding two and three digit numbers!

Rounding All Around

Like Representing Numbers in Four Ways, Addition Challenge, and Subtraction Challenge, this workstation utilizes the base ten cards to create an endless station for students to practice rounding. Again it allows for differentiation from the teacher or the learner. For my students, when they visited Practice Makes Perfect they may have completed all four of these stations at once, or they may have been instructed to focus on a particular skill.

Games Galore

Digit Flip!

Two math stations in one! Great for differentiating. My students absolutely love this game. I included digit cards to print and laminate  but for a fun twist it is easy to play with cards as well.

Students can play "two digit flip" to review ordering of numbers and expanded notation.

For a challenge, or when students are ready to move on, they can advance to "three digit flip"

Teachers can also up the ante by allowing students to play with multiple decks of "digit cards" at once.

Rounding Rampage

Like Digit Flip! this game is also two math stations in one, and students will love the chance to play with real cards as well. A great game for students to play independently while they learn how to round!

Three Digit Addition & Subtraction Slides & Ladders!

An absolute favorite among my students and followers on TeachersPayTeachers!

It gives students a chance to play Slides & Ladders while working on their Three Digit Subtraction and Addition Skills. Can be played in small group, with partners, and as a whole class!

Great for review or use as its own station.

Toolkit Items

As we learn the concepts, I give my students items to add to their "toolkits"

I print and laminate the items and hole punch them so they fit on a ring.

Students carry their "toolkits" from station to station as they work.

It's a great reference piece and helps them to explore multiple ways to solve a problem.
